Juventus fans showed their dissatisfaction with their players in the league clash with Atalanta on Saturday as they booed them off the pitch at the end of the first half while they were losing 1-0 at home to the team from Bergamo thanks to the 28th minute strike from Colombian international Duvan Zapata. In the end, Atalanta held on to claim a memorable win and open a six-point gap on AS Roma who are in fifth place. Atalanta are the best team outside the three title contenders AC Milan, Inter Milan and Napoli. The Champions League campaigners complete the top four teams on the Italian Serie A log.
Only five Juventus players went to apologise to their fans after the game for the poor result against the Bergamo-based team. The five players are WojciechSzczesny, Matthijs De Ligt, Paolo Dybala, Leonardo Bonucci and Juan Cuadrado. The incident showed the disunity within the Juventus squad.
Juventus manager Maximiliano Allegri has to deal with the poor result from the Atalanta to add the 4-0 thrashing received at the hands of Chelsea in the Champions League on Tuesday. He also has some injury worries to deal with from the Atalanta game after United States of America (USA) international Weston McKennie and Federico Chiesa picked up respective injuries.
Both USA midfielder McKennie and Italian attacker Chiesa will have to go through tests to determine the extent of their injuries. Compatriot Federico Bernardeschi came on for the injured Chiesa at the start of the second half, while USA player McKennie made way for Italian striker Moise Kean after 64 minutes.
