LEEDS UNITED SIGN USA STAR

Championships side Leeds United have agreed a deal to bring in American International Robbie Rodgers. The 24-year-old winger has been at the club on a trial basis and it seems that the club have seen enough in him to sign him permanently.

However, his arrival at Leeds United will be pending a work permit, which is something that the club hope will be sorted out by the end of this January transfer window.

Leeds United were recently defeated by Arsenal in the third round of the FA Cup after a spectacular goal from Arsenal legend Thierry Henry.

Robbie Rodgers was watching this game and he would have hoped to have made an impact on him had he been on the pitch. Still, Leeds United will be able to field him in the Championship matches, which are far more important than the third round of the FA Cup. Leeds United are currently targeting promotion to the Premier League and they remain outside the play-off position.

However, they can get into the play-offs position with a decent run, as they are only one point outside the sixth placed Hull City. Manager Simon Grayson has said that Robbie Rodgers will instantly become part of this first team plans if he receives a work permit.

“We’re delighted to have agreed a deal with Robbie. He’s been training with us and he came to Arsenal to get a feel of the group. He has been playing in the MLS where he has done well, he wants to continue his career in Europe, and we believe he will make an impact here,” Grayson told the club’s official website.

So far, Robbie Rodgers has made more than 100 appearances in the MLS playing for the Columbus crew. He will be hoping to bring this experience to Leeds United as well.
